Katie has been the Director of Ridland Wealth Management Ltd since 2008. Katie is passionate about providing her clients with peace of mind through clear fundamental strategies to create both financial and mental wellbeing.
Financial Background
Katie graduated from Aberdeen University and worked for two years in advertising, before succumbing to her genes and joining Bankers Trust (now State Street).
After six years in banking, which included a secondment to New York, she took the opportunity in 2000 to join her father’s practice with St. James's Place (formerly J. Rothschild Assurance). In early 2008 Forbes retired, and Katie bought his Practice, and her business is now a Senior Partner Practice of St. James's Place.
Chartered Financial Planner
Katie Ridland has been awarded the title Chartered Financial Planner by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
Chartered Status is the profession's gold standard for financial planners. It confirms that every Chartered Financial Planner has completed a suite of professional qualifications equivalent to a bachelor's degree. She continued her studies after Chartered and is also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.
Chartered Status also involves a commitment to continuing professional development and adherence to an industry standard Code of Ethics.
Accredited Financial Education Specialist
Katie Ridland has been awarded the title Accredited Financial Education Specialist by St. James's Place. This means she can provide high-quality, money management workshops to young people, and can do so at no cost to the school.
To achieve this, Katie has completed online modules to support the delivery of financial education (FE) to young people; module topics included effective classroom management, safeguarding, and inclusion. She has also had experience delivering accredited resources to young people and has been professionally assessed as delivering these to a consistently high standard. So far she has delivered training to over 900 students and aims to reach 10,000 children by 2030.
In her free time, she is a member of The Royal Merchant Company of Edinburgh and is a Trustee of their Retirement Benefit Scheme and member of their Enterprise Committee. She is a past Captain of the Society of High Constables of Edinburgh and is a member of their strategic review committee. She is also a past President of the Rotary Club of Edinburgh. In addition, she enjoys the arts and country pursuits.
